Sustainability
Brova Pearl is energy positive, and has been developed to be carbon neutral, and carbon positive where possible.
Available energy resources, mainly solar power, combined with careful design of the hotel and its systems to minimize energy loss, may balance energy production and energy consumption.
Brova will utilize all available sustainable energy resources on site.
The system comprises a combination of direct solar power plants, sea water and ground thermal power plants and kinetic power plants as available.
Power-backup for instant and uninterrupted power supply during short peak loads, power failures or night time is provided by large battery units.
Self-sustainable Energy Conservation
Brova Pearl is designed with the ambition to become energy positive.
Available energy resources, mainly solar power, combined with careful design of the hotel and its systems to minimize energy loss may balance energy production and energy consumption. Brova will utilize all available sustainable energy resources on site.
The system comprises a combination of direct solar power plants, sea water and ground thermal power plants, and kinetic power plants as available.
Power backup for instant and uninterrupted power supply during short peak loads, power failures or night time is provided by large battery units.
Many areas of the structure are covered by elegant Solar Hybrid Panels.
Photovoltaic thermal hybrid solar collectors, sometimes known as hybrid PV/T systems or PVT, are systems that convert solar radiation into thermal and electric energy.
These systems combine a solar cell, which converts sunlight into electricity, with a solar thermal collector, which captures the remaining energy and removes waste heat from the PV module.
The capture of both electricity and heat allow these devices to have higher energy and thus be more overall energy efficient than solar photovoltaic (PV) or solar thermal alone. The system is 100% emission-free: no CO₂, no NOX.
The system requires no inputs and is therefore 100% energy self-sufficient.
Energy needs will be accommodated by a specific combination of solutions that are individually tailored to each case.
RECYCLING OF ORGANIC MATERIAL
All waste will be recycled on site. Brova Pearl has state of the art process plants and programs to recycle all waste.
The leftovers from food processing and restaurants, plus the sewage, is led to a composting unit connected to a dewatering unit separating water and solids.
The solids are led direct into the composter which also is open for manual feeding of cardboard, paper, magazines, wood (clean), flowers, grass, garden waste etc.
The composter transforms the solids into a rich and powerful compost/fertilizer.
The weight and volume are minimized by minimum 80%. This compost will/can be used to fertilize all plants within the hotel, and the rest donated to local farmers for usage.
The waste water (black water from toilets and grey water from showers, wash bins, lavatories etc.) is cleaned to a technical fresh water standard, and will be recycled a.o. for cleaning, washing, flushing toilets, cooling and irrigation of hotels gardens and plants etc.
SELF-SUSTAINABLE FRESH WATER
Water is a prominent aspect of each BROVA IDEA project, such as the ‘Pearl’.
The floating structure is essentially a man-made island that is surrounded by water.
Brova’s desalination system produces fresh water from sea water.
The quality of the fresh water is continuously monitored.
At special locations, depending on local authorities’ approvals, the system may produce potable water.
